1. Step 1: Screening and Pumping
The wastewater flows through the process of screening where objects such as rags, wood pieces, plastics and grease are dissolved. The material removed is washed and disposed of in a landfill. The screened wastewater is then pumped towards the next step of the WTP plant process.
2. Step 2: Grit Removal
In this step of the water treatment plant process, heavy but fine material such as sand and gravel is removed from the wastewater. This material is also released into a landfill.
3. Step 3: Primary Settling
The settled material is taken out using circular tanks known as clarifiers. The material settled, also known as primary sludge is pumped off from the button and the wastewater flows through the tank from the top. In this water filtration process step, chemicals are also added.
4. Step 4: Aeration

7. Step 7: Disinfection
