Nisargruna Technology Sharing Agreement

Vulture Innovation Private Limited and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) have a Nisargruna biogas technology-sharing arrangement for implementation of biogas plants in India. The approach is intended to improve scientific organic-waste treatment while recovering renewable energy and useful manure.

The NISARG-RUNA concept was developed by BARC as an indigenous waste-management technology designed around resource recovery rather than uncontrolled disposal.

The live page describes BARC's NISARG-RUNA technology as an indigenous 'zero garbage, zero effluent' waste-management route. The process combines aerobic preparation and anaerobic biomethanation to maximize conversion of suitable organic matter into methane-rich biogas and stabilized, weed-free manure.

The BARC NISARG-RUNA technology route is presented for scientific treatment of suitable biodegradable waste with energy and manure recovery as key resource-recovery outputs.

How the NISARG-RUNA Biogas Plant Works

The NISARG-RUNA system follows a bi-phasic biomethanation principle combining aerobic preparation with anaerobic breakdown. Organic material is progressively processed to maximize conversion into methane-rich biogas and stabilized, weed-free, high-quality manure.

The technology can be considered for kitchens, large canteens, hospitals, hotels and municipal bodies that generate regular biodegradable waste and need a controlled treatment route.

Resource Recovery

Key Advantages

The Nisargruna approach combines waste treatment with recovery of useful outputs, helping reduce dependence on landfill disposal and supporting a circular waste-management model.

  • Environment-friendly treatment of biodegradable waste in a controlled system.
  • Biogas recovery that can support cooking fuel or power-generation applications after appropriate treatment.
  • Production of stabilized organic manure that can be used as a soil-conditioning resource where suitable.
  • Potential process-water recovery and reuse as part of the treatment system.

According to the existing live content, recovered biogas can support kitchen-fuel or power-generation applications, the stabilized manure can be used as a soil-conditioning resource, and about 70% of process water may be recycled at the end of the treatment route when the plant is designed and operated appropriately.

Applications

Where the Technology Can Be Used

Projects can be engineered around the quantity and character of biodegradable feedstock available at the site. Appropriate segregation, feed preparation, digestion conditions and gas handling are important to reliable performance.

  • Hotels and institutional kitchens
  • Large canteens and campuses
  • Hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • Municipal organic-waste projects
  • Commercial and industrial food-waste generators
